We were both so excited to welcome Noah into our little family on March 7th at 12:05 p.m. late Thursday evening! We hadn't planned on having him so early. Dena had been paged by her OBGYN that her test results for preecclampsia were positive. She was at the hospital to bring Steven a Jamba juice. Preecclampsia is basically high blood pressure during your pregnancy. Steven checked her blood pressure and it was 160/110 which is rather high. So he called upstairs to see what they should do in the OB-Now care clinic. They wanted Dena to come up. They didn't like how high her blood pressure was so they looked at Dena and said, "Oh, you aren't going anywhere to night, we will keep you here if that's ok, and monitor you and your baby!" So Dena hunkered down and Steven slept on the extremely comfortable fold out chair. Dena sat around and was fasting since Wednesday. We begged a nurse to let her have some food, and Dena was very excited to eat a Turkey sandwich at about 8:30. The OB in charge decided to do a test and give Dena a dose of pitocin and see how the baby would respond to contractions. They wanted her to have 3 contractions within 10 minutes which took some time. This whole time they were planning on inducing Dena on Friday morning. When Dena had three contractions Noah's heart rate was dropping so, right before midnight they rushed Dena into the operating room and got Noah out quickly. Dena and I were very grateful that the medical team was so fast and efficient. Our son was healthy and doing well at 12:05 a.m. We stayed in the hospital for about a week, and Noah is now 2 weeks old. Sorry this took so long to post! Besides having a cold, Noah is a very mellow baby! He sleeps with his little hands behind his head like a true model, and only smacks his lips when he is hungry. We are so grateful for our sweet little son! Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support, Noah is lucky to come into such a loving family full of people that can't wait to love him!
